It includes:
- any form of trade, trade, craft, profession, vocation or other activity carried out for the purpose of obtaining profit;
- any club that provides exclusive club facilities, services and premises to its members for social relations or recreation; Y
- any company incorporated in Hong Kong under the Companies Ordinance or non-Hong Kong company that has established a place of business in Hong Kong, regardless of whether it actually conducts any business in Hong Kong.
- any company outside of Hong Kong that has a representative or liaison office in Hong Kong, or that has leased its property located in Hong Kong, regardless of whether it has established a place of business in Hong Kong.
- However, a person with only one position or job is not considered to be engaged in any business activity and is not required to apply for business registration.

Applications for company registration in Hong Kong are made on paper. In addition, you will receive the Hong Kong BR fee Certificate in 30 minutes this page or 2 business days by post. Upon payment of the registration fee and the specified fee on Hong Kong business registration renewal, you will receive a valid business registration certificate. Alternatively, the branch registration certificate will have a typewritten line showing the date the payment was made, the receipt number, and the amount that was paid. Your certificate will be valid until the expiration date indicates it.

The amount payable with your certificate will depend on the start date of the certificate of registration. This is applicable unless it is your first local business registration certificate found within the one-stop shop business and business registry. The amount to be paid in the certificate will also depend on the date of presentation for its incorporation to the Mercantile Registry. The amount payable for certificate renewal will be based on the start date of the corresponding renewal certificate.
